Tropicana to Unveil Mob Museum

You won’t have to wait for the “official” mob museum — the one with Mayor Oscar Goodman’s stamp of approval — to open downtown. The Tropicana has announced that it will open its Las Vegas Mob Experience in December. The interactive museum will house more than 1,000 items (ostensibly) once owned by gangsters. No word yet on whether the museum has relics from Goodman’s past life as a mob lawyer.

Celebrate Hawaii Statehood With Luau

First Food & Bar in The Shoppes at the the Palazzo will celebrate Hawaii’s statehood with a 9th Island Luau beginning at 9 p.m. Saturday.  Authentic Hawaiian food will be sold and drink specials including 2-for-1 Heinekens will be offered.

Mirage Welcomes Tiger Cubs

The Mirage welcomed a pair of 7-week-old tiger cubs to Siegfried & Roy’s animal habitat recently. The cubs, Mohan and Majestic, are the youngest tigers the Mirage has had in seven years. They were born in Florida  to parents that are part of Siegfried and Roy’s breeding program.

‘Date Night’ Tuesdays at Silverton

Members of Silverton’s Discovery Club (signup is free) can enjoy a movie and one of the best buffets in town for $5 each Tuesday in August. The features to be shown include Some Like It Hot on Aug. 17, On the Town on Aug. 24 and Roman Holiday on Aug. 31. Forbes Names Vegas Coolest City

Las Vegas ranks as the coolest city in the nation, along with New York, in the current issue of Forbes magazine. A poll conducted by Harris Interactive determined the magazine’s rankings. Respondents 18 to 34 years old said Vegas is cooler than even New York. Read the full story.
