Palazzo’s celebration of Bordeaux month culminates on September 24 with a special FestiVino at Azure luxury pool. Sip fine wine and dance to classy music in an intimate setting. France’s finest wines — including Château Vieux St Andre, Doyac Haut-Medoc and Paranchere Blanc — will be featured at the event, which runs from 7 to 10 p.m. For more information, see the FestiVino website.
Celebrate Mexican Independence Day
MGM Resorts is pulling out all the stops for VIVA!, a multi-day fiesta in honor of Mexican Independence Day. Now through Sept. 19, all 10 MGM properties in Las Vegas will host events and activities — including concerts, live comedy, happy hours, tequila tastings and food giveaways. Be sure to score a wristband for VIP entrance to exclusive VIVA events and access to the Ignite Lounge in Monte Carlo. For more information, see the VIVA! website.
Big Italian Festival at Silverton
The San Gennaro Feast is back at the Silverton, and will run through Sept. 19. The festival is a family-friendly celebration of Italian food and culture, with a wide selection of dining booths, amusement rides and games. Each night, nationally known performers will take the main stage for a live show.
Don’t miss tonight’s traditional Italian procession starting at 7 p.m. Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman and other officials will be on hand as Father Dave Casaleggio gives a blessing.
Admission is free for young children, $8 for seniors and $9 for adults. Visit the feast website for a coupon; for more information, call 702-227-0295.
2-For-1 Drinks at the Hilton
In the latest issue of the Las Vegas Hilton’s newsletter, available online, the hotel has a coupon for 2-for-1 drinks in the lively Tempo Lounge. Best of all, there appears to be no restriction on days of the week or number of drinks. Find the coupon here.
Half-Price Martinis at Hank’s
Sample some of the best martinis in Henderson — if not in all of Southern Nevada — for half price each night from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hank’s. The swanky steakhouse inside Green Valley Ranch recently received a coveted AAA Four-Diamond award. If you miss out on the traditional happy hour, don’t worry. From 9 to 11 p.m. Sunday-Thursday Hank’s offers the same deal as part of its Reverse Happy Hour.
Free: Atomic Testing Museum
Nevada has an interesting history as a testing ground for all manner of secret government projects. Interesting enough to open up your wallet for a museum ticket? Maybe, maybe not, but no matter: The Atomic Testing Museum will offer free admission September 25 as part of Museum Day. Across the country, museums affiliated with the Smithsonian will grant free access on that date. In Vegas, the offer is good from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Don’t just show up, however, and expect no hassles. First you must register on the Smithsonian site.
Dirt-Cheap Happy Hour for Locals
Normally, Las Vegas locals wouldn’t have much reason to visit the aggressively high-end Shoppes at Mandalay Bay. But Hussong’s Cantina has changed all that. Every Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m., Hussong’s will serve up what has to be the best happy hour deal on the South Strip. For $3, locals will receive one taco, one Dos Equis beer and one Tres Agaves margarita or shot. The venue has a “rock and roll” mariachi band and already offers locals a 20 percent discount on menu items.
